Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G vs Galaxy S21 Plus, All Comparison

One indicator of a powerful smartphone is the chipset that is planted. Combined with reliable software and support for RAM and free storage, the phone is sure to run smoothly for multi-tasking.

Two smartphones with reliable performance on the market are the Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus. Before comparing the performance of the two, let’s look at the innards of this 2021 flagship phone duo.

Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G

Find X3 Pro 5G is one of the first smartphones to come with Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 888 chipset. The SoC is manufactured using a 5nm fabrication process.

Snapdragon 888 offers an upgraded eight-core tri-cluster processor that delivers up to 25% better performance than Snapdragon 865 CPU and better power efficiency. Headlining these eight cores is the Kryo 680 Prime @ 2.84GHz based on ARM’s top Cortex-X1 design.

Next up is the regular Cortex-A78-based Kryo 680 Gold @ 2.42GHz trio. Last cluster, there are four Kryo 680 Silver @ 1.8GHz based Cortex-A55 for regular duty, and they bring the total number of cores to eight.

The Snapdragon 888 comes with the new Adreno 660 GPU, which offers a 35% performance increase over the Adreno 650 inside the SD865 and Find X2 Pro. It supports OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulcan 1.1, and the new Variable level shading technology.

The Snapdragon 888 chipset is also equipped with the new Hexagon 780 DSP with the sixth generation AI engine. There’s also a new ISP and a new integrated X60 5G/LTE modem. Wi-Fi 6 is supported, there is native support for UFS 3.1, as well as a new QuickCharge 5 option.

Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, not expandable.

Galaxy S21 Plus

As usual, the Galaxy S21 Plus has 2 chipset variants. North America and China receive Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, while handsets worldwide, including Indonesia, are equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 2100 SoC.

The processors on both chips have a tri-cluster setup and use the same core. Headlining this processor is ARM’s Cortex-X1, a design focused on uncompromising performance based on the Cortex-A78. Next up is the trio of Cortex-A78s, while the four regular Cortex-A55s bring the total core count to eight.

The Exynos read speed is 1×2.9GHz + 3×2.8GHz + 4×2.2GHz. On the GPU front, the Exynos 2100 sports a Mali-G78 GPU with 14 cores and promises a 46% increase over the previous generation.

The LPDDR5 RAM on the Galaxy S21 Plus has 8GB and 128GB of base storage.

And now it’s time to look at the benchmark numbers. Obviously, the hardware components of the Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G are the best at the moment. And raw GFX Bench tests say the Adreno 660 GPU is the most powerful to date.

The on-screen test gives it an edge on phones that pack a lower-resolution 1080p display like the Galaxy S21 Plus. Because Oppo uses the screen better, so the numbers are different. The Find X3 Pro 5G scores very well on AnTuTu, well above the Galaxy S21 Plus.

The Snapdragon 888 chip is the best a phone can get right now, so there’s nothing more to ask, really. Most flagships have switched to QHD resolution. This chipset has the power to handle games with so many pixels and at high framerates.

Find X3 Pro 5G is equipped with a vapor chamber cooling solution for the SoC and battery. It works great while gaming and charges quickly and won’t overheat the phone, so it doesn’t end up throttling. If the game is intense and long, the phone may warm up, but not to an alarming degree.

In the 3D Mark Wild Life Stress Test, the numbers show 57% stability for the Find X3 Pro 5G when running at QHD resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S21 Plus shows lower benchmark numbers than the Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G. However, users certainly don’t have problems in using their daily cellphones with the Galaxy S21 Plus. But it’s best to avoid playing intense games on this phone.
